A Memorial Service for Jerry David Doss, 71, of Marshall will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2015 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Dr. Randy Fitzgerald officiating. Mr. Doss passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at his residence in Marshall after a short battle with cancer. Jerry was born in Linden, Texas on July 3, 1943 to R.D. Doss and Marjorie Powell Doss. He attended Panola Junior College, and worked as a Draftsman, retiring in 2009. Jerry married Dianne Carey on March 12, 1966 in Marshall, Texas. He enjoyed fishing and spending time working on his truck. Jerry was a real people person, who loved to talk and never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Dianne Carey Doss of Marshall; children, Stacy Doss of Austin, Texas, and Kim Hoover and husband, Terry of Copper Canyon, Texas; sister, Nell Jones of Marshall, Texas; grandchildren, Daniel, Benjamin, Matthew and Grace Hoover; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Bob Faust; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
