A funeral service for Jessie N. Bishop, 92, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Colonial Gardens Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2024, at the funeral home.

Jessie was born on April 19, 1932, in Gladewater, Texas to Arch Patrick Spruiell and Daisy W. Littrell Spruiell and passed away on November 27. 2024, in Marshall, Texas.

She worked as an LVN for thirty plus years. She worked in nursing homes for fourteen years before becoming an instructor for nursing for a number of years. She was a member of the Texas LVN Association from 1987 to 2006. She was a member of the Pentecostals of Marshall Church. She loved crafts, sewing and talking about her Native American Heritage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arch and Daisy Spruiell; husband, Oscar L. Bishop; B.W. George, the father of her children; brothers, Melvin Spruiell, Herschel Spruiell, William Spruiell, Alton Spruiell, Dewey Spruiell and Carlton Spruiell; sisters, Dorothy Holmes, Betty Jo Jones and Mary Ellen Spruiell and grandchildren, Larry Beloney, Jr. and Sonya Clark.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Clark, Debra Gulley and Wilma Barbo (David); step children, Theresa Forstall (Jim) and Fay Jeen Hupp (Ronnie); grandchildren, Stephen Clark (Jessica), Benjamin Clark, Kim Pendley, Holly Lewis (Shawn), Jill Ann Mills (Daniel), Michael Beloney (Stacey), Carla Clark, William Carl Clark (Brandy), Michael Shane Clark (Jennifer and Vicki Martin (Hayden); twenty eight great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews and other friends and family.
