David Wood...Beloved father, grand-father, and great-grandfather, David Wood, age 75, of Marshall, Texas,

passed away on November 6, 2019 with family at his side. David was born on January 29, 1944

in Marshall, Texas to Allen and Mary Elizabeth Wood.

David was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Elizabeth Wood, and his older brother

Jerry Allen Wood.

David is survived by his sister Gladys Woods of Jefferson, his youngest son Chad Wood, his

devoted daughter Shana Wood, and eldest son Chris Wood and wife Laura; all of Marshall,

Texas.

David is also survived by Grandchildren: (siblings) Jaxson Wood and Payton Wood and fiancé

Josh Cole, (siblings) Joshua Wood, Austen Shankle, Darby Shankle, and Parker Wood and wife

Emily Wood, and his great-grandson Nathaniel Wood.

David attended Karnack ISD, where he was an active athlete, running the mile in track, and

being awarded the "Mr. Football" medal for his achievements before graduating from high

school in 1963. Later, David would be employed for most of his life in the oil, gas, and

construction trades, where he worked as an estimator, supervisor, and pipeline inspector. David

also had his own contracting company for a time. For most of his life he was also a cattle

rancher, and loved very little more than being on the farm. He loved Beefmaster cattle, and

ranching in general, and ranched, at least part time, throughout his life. As an additional sideline

endeavor, David fulfilled his love for waterfowl hunting by owning and operating a hunting

lodge and lease services in Lake Village, Arkansas for the last 15 plus years.

David enjoyed life to the fullest, considering each day a new opportunity for adventure. He

rarely sat still, and loved to be in the road headed to do something at all times. He had a great

deal of interests in life, and in people, and was quick to make new friends with anyone, of any

station. He was a lifelong member of the Marshall Elks Lodge, where he loved to hang out with

fellow Elks. He was on his way to watch football at the Lodge with friends the day of his

accident. As anyone who knew him can attest, he loved fellowship and to talk! He would talk to

anyone, about anything, at any time, and was seldom seen without his favorite tool in the world-his

phone.

While he loved people and conversation in general, his family was his treasure. He worked all

over the U.S. with both of his sons, at different times in their lives, but always longed for home

where he could be near to the farm and his family especially his kids, grandkids, and great

grandson. When it came to his family David, Dad, Pappy was a helper, and a giver, and was

always ready to help when needed, usually even before he was asked.

He was a friend, a provider, a father and grandfather, and he will be very sorely missed from this

day forward.

May God bless you Pappy as you watch over us.
