John Gramling Adams, MD , 86, of Marshall, passed away peacefully at his home on October 20, 2025. He is survived by his brother, Gaines Daniel Adams, sons John Gramling Adams, Jr, MD and Charles Savage Adams, OD. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Rebecca Naugher Adams, his parents, Winifred Adams and Gaines Taylor Adams and many others who he adored and loved. John was the son of parents who made their living by farming in a rural community in Alabama. He spent his early years learning the values of hard work, honesty, respect and family on the family dairy and row-crop farm. He attended college at Auburn before matriculating to the University of Alabama Medical School where he earned his medical degree in 1966. He completed an Internship at The U.S. Naval Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina.

He returned to Centre, Alabama in 1967, returning home to care for the people he loved—his community. He had many "loves"—his Rebecca, Johnny, Charles, his grandchildren, his patients, horses and hunting. In 1976 he moved the family to Marshall, Texas to be closer to his love of horses and the Josey Barrel-Racing and Calf Roping Schools. He was a member of multiple medical organizations including State Boards of South Carolina, Alabama and Texas; American Board of Family Practice; American In-Vitro Allergy Immunology Society; American College of Occupational Medicine; and many others. He was an instrumental part of many Josey Barrel Racing Camps through the years serving as Camp Instructor and Physician. He served as the Physician of multiple High School Rodeo Clubs. He practiced medicine full-time until the age of 74 when he finally called it quits so that he could spend more time with his "loves".

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Food Bank Of Marshall, Tx—one of the many charities that John G. and Rebecca N. Adams supported.
