Obituary

A funeral service to celebrate the life of John Pedison, 81, of Marshall, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Family and friends are warmly invited to a visitation on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

John was a beloved member of the Marshall community, born and raised in the heart of this town by the Pedison family, proud Greek immigrants who managed the Ginocchio Hotel and Restaurant. A graduate of Marshall High School in 1962, John served his country with honor as a Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War.

In 1972, he married the love of his life, Frances Pedison, and together they shared 52 beautiful years of marriage.John was an alumnus of Stephen F. Austin State University and worked with dedication at Walmart for 36 years. Known for his friendly nature and quick wit, John had a knack for making everyone around him feel special. His stories, especially those from his Navy days and his time at the Ginocchio, brought smiles and laughter to many. He was a loyal Marshall Mavericks football fan, a proud supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, and
cheered on the Texas Rangers with passion. John's joy for life was evident in his love for dancing—especially doing the twist at every party he attended.

Above all, John was a devoted husband, father, and PawPaw, who cherished his family with all his heart. His love and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

John was preceded in death by his loving parents, Anthony and Anthippe Pedison; his dear sisters, Angela Cook and Helen Padgett; and his best friend, Tommy Byrd.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Frances Pedison; his daughter, Cindy Rigsby, and her husband, Chris; his sons, Michael Pedison, along with Roxanne Griffin, and Chris Pedison, and his wife, Tina. He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy Pedison, and his wife, Carolyn; his brothers-in-law, George Cook and James Padgett; and his cherished grandchildren, Cole Buzbee, Clarabel Rigsby, Alena Pedison, Theo Pedison, and Luca Pedison, along with many other loving family members and friends.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Premier Homecare, Healing Hearts, and Marshall Hospice for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly encourages donations to a local veteran charity at www.plowsharetx.org in John's memory.
