Obituary

This world has lost a great man, and Heaven has gained an Angel like no other. John Esker Walton was born for greatness. He was a proud man, who lived to help others and asked for nothing in return. He gained love and respect everywhere he went. Called "Uncle John" by all. Thos who knew him can say "there goes a good man." Those who never met him, missed the opportunity of a lifetime. John Esker Walton was born August 25, 1934 to John Wesley Walton and Gracie McWilliams Walton. He accepted Christ at an early age at Crossroads Baptist Church. He attended school in Panola County. He ventured out west to start his adult life in Palm Springs, CA, later moving to Banning, CA. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for 30 years in Palm Springs, CA before retiring and moving back to Texas in 1996. He met, and married Eva Nell Chatman on October 9, 1976. Together they raised three children. Early on Wednesday, April 23, before the sun kissed the sky, the Lord called him home. He leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Eva Walton; two daughters, Manisha Nicole Walton of DeBerry, TX,and Shamonna Taneil Walton of Carthage, TX; one son, Myka T. Schuler of California; three beautiful grandchildren who worshipped their "PawPaw", Ronald D. Mayweather of Carthage, TX, Oshiana D. Mayweather of Carthage, TX and Imari S. Greene of DeBerry, TX; two brothers, Alvin Walton (Katherine) of Banning, CA, Ralph Walton (Charlene) of Palm Springs, CA; three sisters, Wessie Roy of Palm Springs, CA, Mardell Taylor of Riverside, CA and Linda Williams of DeBerry, TX. He also had room in his heart and home for his honorary children: Yakisha Smith, Nakia Hopkins, Tashambi Covington, Curtis Harris, Jr., and Brianna Hatcher; his goddaughter Anjanae Miller; and a host of other relatives. He is proceeded in death by his parents, John and Gracie Walton; his two brothers, Robert (Bay) Walton and Adolphus (Dolph); one sister, Alzarie; his special son, Christa (Butch) Walton (wife, Lynette Walton); and his best friend/cousin, Peter Rollison.
