A funeral service for John William Wyatt, 77, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Waldrop Cemetery in Panola County, Texas. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at the funeral home.

John was born on July 2, 1946, in Danville, Virginia to John Henry Wyatt and Leotis Helen Waldrop Wyatt and passed away on December 21, 2023, in Longview, Texas.

He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for Fab Steel, Thiokol and as a Jailor for the Harrison County Sheriff's Department. He loved his dog, cats and watching TV. Most of all he loved visiting with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Leotis Helen Wyatt and wife, Mary Ellen Wyatt.

He is survived by his children, Lee Wyatt and Matthew Wyatt; brother, Roy Wyatt; sister, Grace Hall; sister-in-law, Joy Madewell; grandchildren, Paige Parce and Olivia Wyatt and great grandchild, Grey Parce along with nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
