On December 12, 1932, Lucille Thomas-Adams and John Lee Adams gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. They named her Johnnie Lee but later gave her the nickname "Jackie". Confessing with her mouth a belief in Christ as her personal Savior, Jackie joined Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age. She was educated in Marshall Public Schools and worked many years as a housekeeper. Jackie married Lushus Cartwright and to this union five children were born, two sons and three daughters. She had a loving spirit and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. No matter what she was going through she never lost her reason to smile.

On October 22, 2016 God called Jackie home. Preceding her in death along with her parents are her three brothers and two sisters, husband Lushus and son Ivory Jerome "Ike" Cartwright. Cherishing her wonderful memory: her son Willie Lee Cartwright; daughters, Barbara Adams, Bettye Cole, and Ruby Williams; God–daughters, Rosie Graham and Brenda Cooper; her dear friend, Mrs. Emma "Jill" Hicks; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
