Funeral services for Johnny Ray Rodgers, 54, of Marshall, Texas will be 10:00a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with the Reverend Joseph Parrish and Dr. Nathan Hodge officiating. Interment will follow at Canaan Cemetery. Family Hour will be at Downs Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2012. He passed away March 13, 2012 in Marshall. Mr. Rodgers was born April 25, 1957 in Harrison County to the late Melvin Brady Rodgers and Annie Ruth Green Rodgers. He joined Canaan Baptist Church at an early age. He loved acting and landscaping. Surviving relatives include mother, Mrs. Annie Ruth Rodgers of Marshall; sisters, Marilyn Fontenot of Marshall and Willie Ruth and Leo Wilmer; brothers, Reverend Melvin Rodgers of Birmingham, AL and Milton and Regina Rodgers of Hallsville; nieces, Shamekia Fontenot, Sharelle Fontenot, Latonya Rodgers, LaShondra Rodgers, Trenalyn Campbell and Tamekia Johnson; 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews; aunts, Bertha Rodgers, Luellan Johnson and Daisy Green; and uncles Ladell Rodgers and Johnny Green, Sr. Mr. Rodgers was preceded in death by his father; brother, Ronald Charles Rodgers; sister, Phyllis Lennette Rodgers; and nephew, Derrick Rodgers.
