Johnny "Boochie" Tippens was born on December 10, 1960, in Marshall, Texas, to Tommie Lee Tippens and Ella Marie Hurd Tippens. He departed this life on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Johnny was a believer in God and trusted in his plan over his life's journey.

He attended Marshall Public Schools and worked for MasterCraft Cabinet Factory until his health declined. Johnny never met a stranger; he greeted everyone with his warm smile and a firm handshake. He was proud to be a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he was loved and cherished by all who knew him. He also had a special love for the Dallas Cowboys.

Johnny "Boochie" was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie Lee Tippens and Ella Hurd Tippens; his grandmothers, Josie Tippens and Gracie "Day" Hurd; and his grandfathers, Obie Tippens Sr. and Dock Hurd Sr and grandson Grayson Harris.

Johnny leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Shanika Jackson Harris (Corey) of Marshall, Texas; Kieshanna Wilkins of Dallas, Texas; KeAira Wilkins Harris (Delandis) of Fort Worth, Texas; Monique Fisher of Dallas, Texas; Kevin Jackson of Marshall, Texas; and Damon Tippens (Kaler) of Bossier City, Louisiana. He is also survived by one sister, Patricia Tippens Floyd (Charles) of Cedar Hill, Texas; his sister/cousin, Terri Sparks of Marshall, Texas; two nieces, Latoya Floyd Johnson (Roy) of Dallas, Texas, and Ashleigh Floyd of Glenn Heights, Texas; 24 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services  will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2026, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hunter Cemetery in Marshall. Mr. Tippens passed away on June 23, 2026, at his home in Marshall.
