With deep sorrow and hearts filled with grief, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Jose Yanez Rico, on December 6, 2025. His absence leaves a void nothing can ever replace, and our lives will forever be changed without him. After fighting with courage and strength, he was welcomed into the loving arms of the Creator, where he now rests in everlasting peace.

Jose was not only a father — he was our protector, our comfort, and the foundation of our family. His kindness, gentle spirit, and warm smile touched everyone around him. The love he gave so freely will remain in our hearts for the rest of our lives.

Born on April 25, 1964, Jose lived a life marked by hard work, humility, and deep devotion to the people he loved. For 35 beautiful years, he shared his life with his wife, María Rico, his partner, his friend, and the love of his life. Their bond was one of deep loyalty, commitment, and unwavering love — a love that carried them through every joy and every challenge.

Jose worked for many years at Matthew Landscaping, a company he treasured. His coworkers were more than colleagues — they were like family to him. He spoke proudly and gratefully about the friendships he built there, relationships filled with laughter, respect, and genuine care.

He found his greatest joy in spending time with family and friends. Whether gathered around the table, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other's presence, those moments gave him true happiness. He valued the people in his life deeply, and he made sure they felt it.

He leaves behind his loving wife María Rico, and his children Freddy, Maribel, Ana, Junior, Alex, Jessica, and Gabby, who will forever carry his memory as a guiding light. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, who adored him beyond measure and will forever treasure the moments they spent with their querido abuelo.

Even though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering. He is at peace now — watching over us, protecting us, and sending us strength from above, just as he did here on earth.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in  Waskom, Texas. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 12, 2025, at the funeral home.

El 6 de diciembre del 2025, nuestras vidas cambiaron para siempre. Nuestro querido padre, José Yáñez Rico, partió de este mundo, dejando un vacío imposible de describir. El dolor es inmenso, y nada te prepara para perder a quien te dio tanto amor, fuerza y apoyo en la vida.

Nuestro papá fue el corazón de nuestra familia—un hombre noble, trabajador, humilde y siempre dispuesto a ayudar. Amaba convivir con la familia y los amigos. Dedicó muchos años a Matthew Landscaping, donde sus compañeros se convirtieron en familia para él. Su lealtad y gran corazón quedarán por siempre en nuestra memoria.

Deja atrás a su amada esposa de 35 años, María Rico, y a una familia que lo amaba con toda el alma. Su partida ha dejado un dolor inmenso en nuestros corazones.

Mientras hacemos los preparativos para su funeral, también enfrentamos gastos inesperados. Con humildad y el corazón en pedazos, pedimos su apoyo para poder darle a nuestro papá la despedida bonita y digna que él merece.
