Funeral services for Joseph W. McDonald, Jr., 73, of Harleton, TX will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Harleton Baptist Church with Bro. Will Sherman and Bro. David Badder officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2014 at Downs Funeral Home. Mr. McDonald passed away June 2, 2014 at his residence. Joseph Webster McDonald, Jr. was born September 1, 1940 in Harrisonburg, LA to Joseph Webster McDonald, Sr. and L. E. Ogden McDonald. He married Carolyn Hall on June 9, 1960. Mr. McDonald enjoyed fishing, playing guitar and he loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing board games. Surviving Mr. McDonald are his wife Carolyn McDonald of Harleton; his children, Mike McDonald and wife Patti of Gladewater, Renee McDonald of Gladewater, Cindy Berg and husband Robert of Hallsville, Greg McDonald and wife Belinda of Harleton, Joey McDonald and wife Dee of Gladewater; adopted children, Sonlock Buckley and wife Tracy of Harleton; brother, Otis McDonald, Sr. and wife Bobbie of Porter, TX; sister, Eloise Hall and husband Harold of Stuttgart, AR; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Michael McDonald, Jacob McCombs, David McDonald, Sonlock Buckley, Justin Pruitt and Junior Wallace. Honorary pallbearer will be Robby Berg. Memorials can be made to Beacon House Hospice of Longview or the American Cancer Society.
