Funeral services for Josephine Thurmon, 85, of Marshall will be held at 2:00p.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will take place Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 6:00p.m. - 8:00p.m at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Michael Thurmon, Casey Armstreet, Matt Lindemann, John Weis, Hunter Lindemann, Dylan Thurmon, and serving as Honorary Pallbear is Michael Weesner.

Josephine Reynolds Thurmon was born January 29, 1932 in Summerfield, LA to Walter Reynolds and Eula Darden Reynolds. She passed away August 26, 2017 at her residence. She married James Lloyd Thurmon on September 1, 1951 at the Hebron Baptist Church in Bernice, LA. She was a Marshall resident since 1963 and worked for Thiokol for 29 years. Josephine was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, playing cards, and being with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Armstreet; granddaughter, Jacey Armstreet; mother, Eula Moody; father, Walter Reynolds; brother, Hilton Reynolds, and sister, Carneal Simmons.

She is survived by her husband of almost sixty-six years, Lloyd Thurmon of Marshall; son. Mike Thurmon and wife, Rhonda of Marshall; widowed son-in-law, John Armstreet and wife, Susie of Marshall; grandchildren, Brandy Lindemann and husband Matt, Kyla Weis and husband, John, Michael Thurmon and wife, Dara, and Casey Armstreet. Also surviving Mrs. Thurmon are her great grandchildren, Hunter Lindemann, Dylan Thurmon, Kenleigh Lindemann, Cannon Thurmon, Alex Weis, Micah Lindemann, Sydney Weis, Chesney Lindemann, Dusty Weaver and wife, Emily, Trevor Clark, Kaeleigh Clark, and numerous extended family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Marshall Home Health and Hospice.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be to Woodlawn Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
