Obituary

Joyce Marie Beck Wilson, 78, entered the Kingdom of Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, on Friday May 30, 2025. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Joyce exemplified what it means to have a servant's heart, faithfully following the example set by Jesus Christ.

Known fondly to many as "Memaw from Texas," she devoted her life to her family. Through her faithful example, she instilled the values of humility, kindness, and compassion. Joyce consistently placed the needs of others above her own. Nothing in this world brought her greater joy than her two sons, and she often expressed how blessed she felt to live beside both of them.

Joyce was born in Marshall, Texas, on June 20, 1946, to George M. Beck Jr. and Gladys Harrison Beck. She attended school in Marshall. In 1961, she married Billy Ray Craver Sr., and together they raised two sons, Billy Ray Craver Jr. and Jerry Craver.

In 1979, Joyce graduated from the Marshall College of Beauty, pursuing her passion for cosmetology. She worked as a beautician for 41 years, owning two salons and also serving residents in nursing homes. For many years, Joyce operated the salon inside Marshall Manor and worked at facilities such as Winkler House, Alpine Assisted Living, Oakwood House, and many others, where she offered her specialties—shampoo and sets, and perms.

She officially retired in 2020, at the age of 73 due to Covid-19, otherwise, she would still be working today. After retirement, her favorite pastimes included attending Sunday services at Victory Baptist Church, working crossword puzzles, crocheting, watching game shows, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her two sons: Billy Ray Craver Jr. and his wife, Angela, of Marshall, Texas, and Jerry Craver and his wife, Debbie, also of Marshall, Texas. She leaves behind seven grandchildren—Adrienne Wade (Geremi), Adam Craver, Megan McIntosh (Bartley), Ashley Harrold, Aaron Fincher (Jennifer), Justin Blassingame, and Brad Blassingame (Kristen)—eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter on the way.

Waiting for her in heaven were her father, George M. Beck Jr, mother Gladys Harrison Beck, a baby brother, Robert Henry Beck, and a great grandson, Jacob Blassingame, and loving companion Charles Naron.

The family would like to extend our deepest thanks to her caregiver, Cindy Garl Pearcy, and the extraordinary hospice team at AccentCare. We are forever in debt to them for the love, care, and compassion they bestowed upon our family.

A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Algoma Cemetery in Marshall. Visitation will take place at Downs Funeral Home on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Adam Craver, Aaron Fincher, Drayden Oliver, O'Bryan Adams, Justin Blassingame, and Casey Blassingame.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Geremi Wade, Bartley McIntosh, Nicholas Fincher, Nathaniel Fincher, Geremiah Wade, and Brad Blassingame.

In Lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Alzheimer's Association.
