A graveside service for J.R. Copeland will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2021.

J.R. was born July 10, 1943 in Jefferson, Texas to Jessie Copeland, Sr. and Mildred Hendrix. He passed away August 29, 2021 in Marshall, Texas.

He enjoyed hunting bird and deer in San Angelo, gardening and tending to his farm animals. He loved spending time with his family and riding on his Harley.

He is survived by his long-time loving companion, Fanny Hordern; his children, Jessica Maxwell and spouse, Kevin, Kathy Copeland and Scott Gibson; grandchildren, Jay Maxwell and spouse, Chelsey, Summer Kierce and spouse, Hogan, Jarrett Copeland and spouse, Maranda, Joel Copeland, Alex Callahan, River Chandler, Sean Perkins and Peyton Copeland; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Jerry Copeland; sister, Judy Benes and spouse John Henry and numerous other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma Copeland; brothers, Merle Copeland, J.C. Copeland and Jessie Lee Copeland; sisters, Lucy Campbell, Betty Ruth Moore and Faye Williams.
