Obituary

Judith "Judy" Ann Erskins Miller of Karnack, TX, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, with her daughters by her side. Born on October 16, 1941, to Sherman and Iris Erskins in Winnsboro, LA. With her parents, she moved to Karnack in the 1950s where she graduated high school in 1960. Judy was an only child and grew up with her cousins, loving to tell stories about the wonderful times they shared.

Judy began working at Karnack Elementary School in 1974, then later moved to the high school, where she was until her retirement in 2003. She loved her job and made many great friends during those years. Judy loved her family and would always make sure to tell them that she loved and appreciated them. She was an amazing daughter who cared for her parents during their elderly years. A devoted mother, her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She loved going to Karnack Baptist Church with Aunt Ruth, going out to eat, butterfinger blizzards, and Hershey Kisses.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Iris Erskins; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her daughters, Anisa Stalcup and husband David, Jodi Satterwhite, and Amy Kirkland; grandchildren, Callie Kirkland, Caleb Kirkland and wife Madison, and Carly Stewart; aunts, Ruth Virginia Summers and Dorothy Underwood; cousins, Carolyn Redcliff and husband Bill, Dusty Summers and wife Niki, Gary Summers, Carolyn Thompson, Sandra Phillips and husband Mike, Allison Underwood, Bill Britt, and David Rodriguez.

A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Downs Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Andrews Cemetery in Karnack, TX. Brother Pete Sellers will be officiating.
