June C. Ford, born December 18, 1949, went to be with our Lord on September 4, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her passing has temporarily separated her from her loving husband, William Patrick Ford of Marshall; daughter, Julana Schwartz and her husband Scott Schwartz of Rusk; daughter Kensie Sloan and her husband Chase Sloan of Marshall; step-daughter Jennifer Watkins and her husband Jeff Watkins of Dallas; step-daughter Stephanie Kilgore and her husband Jeff Kilgore of Waco; step-son Shane Ford and his wife Jessica Ford of Marshall; and nine grandchildren - Taylor Watkins, Madison Watkins, Kaylin Schwartz, Landry Sloan, Luke Kilgore, Patrick Kilgore, Levi Ford, Layla Ford and Cole Sloan. She is also survived by her parents, Edgar and Mary Clevenger of Hooks; sister, Janice Huddle and her husband Jimmy Huddle of Hooks; sister, Karen Shirley and her husband Gary Shirley of New Boston; along with numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces. June also leaves behind countless wonderful, caring and devoted friends. Her favorite times were those spent with family and friends. She most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, working in her garden, and having tea and shopping with her friends and her girls. She also enjoyed being outdoors taking long walks with her husband and her dogs, admiring God's creation. June was employed at Marshall Memorial Hospital for 15 years. While working at the hospital and raising her family, June returned to college and graduated from East Texas Baptist College with a Bachelor's degree in business. Following graduation, June was promoted to business office manager at the hospital, a position she held until she was no longer able to work due to her poor health. In spite of her disease, June remained a faithful and dedicated servant of Christ. She was a member of Light of the World church and was actively involved in several area ministries. June's prayer to God, early in her battle against this disease in 2000, was for Him to give her ten more years for her to be able to experience the births of her grandchildren, get to know them, and to plant seeds of her faith within each one of them. God granted her request. June rejoiced, acknowledging this answered prayer in praise during the final week of her life. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Michael J. Keating, his oncology team, and all of those at M.D. Anderson, who, through God's hand, helped increase the length and quality of June's life. Forever faithful and strong, June was truly an inspiration to all. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, September 6, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Downs Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Jeff Kilgore, Jeff Watkins, Scott Schwartz, Shane Ford, Chase Sloan, Justin Huddle and Jesse Huddle.
