Katherine "Kat"
Anderson
Nov 15, 1943 — Aug 7, 2025
Marshall
Katherine (Kat) Denver Anderson joined her Lord and Savior on August 7, 2025, at the age of 81. She truly loved her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends, and will be dearly missed.
Born to Horace and Mae Love Rowe on November 15, 1943, she grew up in Harleton, Texas, and attended Pemberton High School in Marshall, Texas.
On April 27, 1960, she married R.D. Anderson, and together they raised four boys: Gary, Stanley, Darryl, and Terry. When R.D. became the assistant minister of Harrison County Church of Christ, Katherine supported his ministry. She worked with Thiokol Chemical Corporation. Later, Katherine became a licensed cosmetologist, although she chose not to pursue that as a profession. Instead, she worked for International Paper Company, where she remained until her retirement in 2010. Katherine enjoyed quiet afternoons working through crossword puzzles, word search activities, and watching TV game shows.
Katherine was baptized into Christ at an early age at Bear Springs Church of Christ. She later placed her membership at Southside Church of Christ, where she was a faithful member until her health declined.
Katherine is preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Horace Jr. and Otis Rowe; her sisters, Lucille Rollins and Mae Curtis Brown; and her sons, Stanley and Gary Anderson.
She is survived by her sons, Darryl (Debra) Anderson and Terry (Anissa) Anderson; her daughter-in-law, Lorisita Anderson; her grandchildren, Kendrial, Tcherylindra, Christion, Amy, Daryious, and Desmond; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Southside Church of Christ in Marshall, Texas. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2025, at Downs Funeral Home.
