A graveside service for Laura Y. Holt, 87, of Hallsville, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the Hallsville Cemetery in Hallsville, Texas with Chaplain Doyle Clifton officiating. A time for visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 27, 2022, at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas.

Laura was born on May 4, 1935, in Marshall, Texas to the late Frank Robert Yakel and Gretchen Rogers Yakel and passed away on May 20, 2022, in Longview, Texas.

She married Alvin Buck Holt on January 28, 1952, in Marshall, Texas and the two remained married until his death. She loved gardening, playing tennis and her dogs. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and loved her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Gretchen Yakel; husband, Alvin Holt and brother, Roger Yakel.

She is survived by her children, Jimmy Holt, Carla Brown and spouse, Tom and Charles Holt and spouse, Yvette; sister, Lucille Morton; grandchildren, Ashlee Roehl and spouse, Ali, Travis Pace, Del Brown and spouse, Tara, Brittany Brown, Paden Brown, Eric Holt and Maddox Holt; 4 great grandchildren along with numerous other family and friends.
