The Celebration of Life for Lauretta Howard Hines, 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 22, 2026, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas. Interment will follow at Memory Park Cemetery in Longview, Texas. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the funeral home. Mrs. Hines passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Marshall, Texas.

Lauretta's infectious smile, courageous heart and love for her family radiated through all who knew her. She was not just a mother and friend, but a pioneer and example of what strength and strong willed really looked like. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She was a loving mother and best friend to her four children and a joyful grandmother and "GiGi" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wylie Eugene and Nora Mae Keadle; her husband, Tommy Hines; brothers, Gene Keadle, Donald Wayne Keadle, William Travis Keadle, James Keadle and Lee Roy Keadle and sisters, Ellie Morgan Tuttle and Nancy Jane Hancock.

She is survived by her daughter, Nora Hines (Allen); sons, George Howard (Maria), Earl Dykes (Kami) and Chad Howard; brother, Charles Keadle; sister, Mary Gordon and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews along with other family and friends.
