Linda Wright Ellis, better known as "MiMi", passed away on February 2, 2018. She was a beloved figure of the Elysian Fields community and loved nothing better than watching her children and grandbabies play sports.

MiMi was born on March 27, 1941 in Shreveport, LA. to Herschel and Maxine Wright. She grew up with 4 brothers, Neal, HB, Terry, and Chuck; an older sister, Connie. She spoke of childhood memories of swimming at the neighborhood pool with her older brothers, her challenges, or rather labor of love, of trying to keep an eye on younger brothers Chuck and Terry. She adored and looked up to her only sister, Connie. She felt lucky to have her father present for many of her life events and she mourned the fact that her mother passed away in 1976. She often spoke of how proud Mamaw would have been of her grandchildren.

She graduated from Fairpark High School in 1959 and later worked for the telephone company where she met her future sister-in-law, who then introduced her to her husband, "Papa" John Ellis. They married in 1971 and shared 47 years of marriage together. They both worked tirelessly over the years to make John's dream of having cattle ranch a reality. She loved the farm, and it is perfectly fitting that she will be laid to rest on the land that was borne out of all of their hard work.

MiMi and Papa John had 3 children, Chad, Brad, and Amanda. Mimi was a sports fanatic and got great joy in watching her kids play sports. She was also extremely proud that all three of her kids graduated college, a first in our extended family. She welcomed all three daughters-in-law, Paulette, Millie, and Amy into the family with open arms and cherished each one.

For the past 18 years, MiMi's life has lovingly revolved around her grandkids, Cole, Annabelle, Tucker, and Mary Frances. She was their biggest fan, she loved having them at the farm, and she relished in spoiling them with gifts. There were few events in their lives that she missed and she wouldn't have had it any other way.
