On Monday, January 2, 2023, Linda Frances (Bright) Fisher, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed from this life into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 86 in Longview, Texas.
Linda was born in Wood County, Texas on December 5, 1936, to Charles Harvey Dalton and Nola May (Lammons) Bright. She was the middle of three children and was very close to her brother, Charles, and sister, Madeline. She moved to Marshall at a young age and met her husband of 65 years in grade school. Linda was a contestant in the Miss Marshall Pageant of 1955. She and Dick married soon after high school and a few years later had their only son, Ricky. Both Linda and her husband worked for Thiokol Army Ammunition plant which took the family to Woodbine, Georgia for a cherished year with fond memories of exploring the Eastern Coast with their lifelong friends, Bobby and Alice Crews. Upon their return to Texas, Linda worked for McGee's Dress Shop. She then took her love of fashion to the next level by opening her own boutique, Linda's Clothes Closet, from which she retired after 20 years. She loved helping her clients find just the right outfit and was thrilled when her store caught the attention of Ann Richards, former Governor of Texas, as well as Don Henley's mother. Linda also had a love for interior design after decorating her home and dress shop with her dear friend, Diane Applebaum. In her free time, you would often find Linda reading a good book, browsing fashion and design magazines, or working crossword puzzles. Most of all, she delighted in being "MamaLinda" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Linda's memory are her son, Richard B. Fisher, Jr. (Ricky) and wife, Pam, of Marshall, TX; sister, Madeline Dishman of Athens, TX; grandchildren Stefanie Spencer, and husband Nate, of Jonesboro, AR; Ronnie Holland, and wife Mandy, of Marshall; Jason Childs of Marshall; and Amanda Plemmons, and husband Kevin, of Marshall. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Nola Kate, Henley, Kingston and Ari Spencer; Ryan Holland; Zoe, Zane, Mackenzie and Zach Childs; Mason and Hannah Myhre; and Blade Lentz. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother.
The family would like to thank the staff of Magnolia Place in Jefferson, Texas for the excellent care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund.
Pallbearers will be Wendell Holmes, Billy Jo Sistrunk, John Mendoza, Gerald Wayne Flourney, Bill Power and Jason Childs. Honorary Pallbearer will be Chuckie Thomas.
