Obituary

Your grandkids lovingly referred to you as "Grammy" and your children called you "Momma" but no matter what you were called, we loved you so very much.

Lola Pearl Mitchell was born on August 8, 1945 to Fannie and Ned Lane who both transitioned before her. She grew up with humble means in the small town of Harleton on the east side of Marshall, Tx. She was baptized and received her Christian  education at New Zion Church of Christ.

She married her husband, Johnny Lee Mitchell, on May 22, 1968, and remained in this union for 56 years. She was working at the Marshall Sewing Factory, Blue Buckle, when he convinced her to get a college degree. With his support, she went to college and graduated with a Bachelor's degree and later on a Master's Degree in education and was able to land a job at Elysian Fields Elementary School where she worked for 30+ years as a teacher. In this same school district, she was recognized for her teaching excellence by winning the Elementary School Teacher of the Year award for 2001-2002 school year.

Her commitment to education was fostered in her children and grandchildren and was her requirement for them as they grew up. Between her 2 children and 2 grandchildren, they are the holders of a total of 9 college degrees because of her love, support, encouragement, and most of all her example.

Her union with Johnny was blessed with 2 daughters, Angela Brown of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Pamela Mitchell (Ivy Roberson III) of Mesquite, Texas.

Lola passed away on December 26, 2025. In addition to her husband and 2 daughters, she leaves to mourn 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and one brother, Freddie Ray Lane of Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Mitchell Lane Wilson, one brother Eddie Clay Lane, and her sisters Nettie Mae McCray, Lula Mae Morris and Ruby Pearl Lane Smith.
