Funeral service for Mrs. Lorene Wade Henderson will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2:00p.m. in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 2-5p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at Downs Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lorene Wade Henderson "Sweet Lo" was born on February 7, 1927 in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born to the parents of Ire and Jesse B. Wade.

Mrs. Henderson received her education from Marshall Public School. She united in matrimony to John Henry Henderson in 1947. They were married for 17 years before he passed away. Mrs. Henderson, also known as "Sweet Lo", was a homemaker, seamstress, well-known for homemade biscuits and thirty-weight gravy. Mrs. Henderson was a mother to the community. She would feed anyone and no one left her house hungry. Her memory and mind was sharp until her golden years.

Mrs. Lorene Wade Henderson is survived by Lawrence Wade (Carolyn) of Marshall, Texas, John A. Henderson (Marla) of Marshall, Texas, Gwendolyn Moore of Marshall, Texas, Emmett Henderson of Marshall, Texas, Loretha Whitaker (Martin) of Marshall, Texas, Mariam Grone of Marshall, Texas, Marquette Haskins (Elder Byron) of Douglassville, Texas, 25 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by her sisters, Blanche Lee Manning and Iretha Bates (Frank).

Mrs. Lorene Wade Henderson is preceded in death by Hevri Ann Henderson, Baby Lorene, McCoy Wade, Robert James Wade, four sisters, Maude B. Prentice, Henrietta Adams, Richie-Dean Thomas, and Arnie Lee Wade.
