Funeral services for Mr. Lorenza Bernard Washington,Sr., 70 of Marshall will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday August 27, 2011 at Mt. Zion Spiritual Church #2. Interment will follow in Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Washington passed away August 22, 2011 in Marshall. He was born May 26, 1941 to Jessie Washington and Alice Mason Washington. On May 31, 1967 he married Barbara Ann Newhouse. Lorenza enjoyed working on cars and helping others, but there was no hobby greater than the love he had for horses. He belonged to several riding clubs and had a true passion for caring for and racing horses. He also enjoyed being a DJ at parties and events. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Surviving Lorenza are his wife, Barbara Ann Washington of Marshall;two sons, Jessie Washington of Texarkana and Lorenza Washington, Jr. of Wylie, Texas; daughter, Bertina Else of Burleson, Texas; sister, Savannah Crockett; four grandchildren, Amory Washington, Gwendolyn Else, Dylan Washington and Sanara Else. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Earnest Washington, Elsie Foster, Jessie Washington and Augustine Crowe.
