Lue Byrd Gardner Carpenter was born April 10, 1933 in Harrison County to L. T. and Sedalia Jenkins Gardner. She attended Marshall Public Schools and graduated from H.B. Pemberton High School. Lue married Allen Carpenter, Jr., and to this union 8 children were born. She was a long time member of Good Hope Baptist Church, and choir. Lue was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Carpenter passed away July 7, 2013. She was an employee of MISD as a bus driver for 24 years. Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her children, Robena Manning, Alice Williams, Linda Rider, Perry Carpenter (Redena), Brenda Jeffery (R.K.), Sharon Lovely, Allen Carpenter III (Jennifer); 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, parents and daughter, Sedalia Jones.
