Melvin Bruce Bockmon A memorial service for Melvin Bruce Bockmon, 57, of Marshall will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, located off Hwy. 59, 8 miles north of Jefferson on FM 2683, 2 miles on the right at the Mt. Zion Cemetery sign. Jonathan Cornett will officiate the service. Melvin Bruce Bockmon was born December 22, 1954 in Bossier City, LA to John C. Bockmon, Sr. and Essie Muriel Lemmon Bockmon. He attended Bossier City, LA and Marshall, Texas schools and graduated from New Boston High School in 1972. He was a member of the DeMolay. Bruce worked for AT&T for 34 years working as a customer service technician. He was a member of CWA Union, as well as a union steward. He was a long standing member of AA. Bruce married Patricia Lynn Henderson in September of 2011. Bruce had a passion for riding his Harley Davidson and loved to hunt. Bruce passed away October 30, 2012 at his residence. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Marshall; his brother, John Bockmon, Jr. and wife Rebecca of Texas and Idaho; his brother-in-law, Horace Henderson of Marshall; cousins, Linda Sylvest Simmons and her husband Jimmy of Linden and John A. Rhea and wife Betty of Bossier City, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boo Run or the charity of your choice.
