A Memorial Service for Margaret Lillian McCarty, 94, of Marshall will be held at 2:00p.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Marshall. Visitation with family and friends will take place Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 6:00p.m. – 8:00p.m., at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. McCarty passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at her home in Marshall.

Margaret Lillian McCarty was born September 08, 1922 in Panola County, Texas to James and Vada Barnes Brewster. She was a lifetime resident of East Texas. Margaret served as co-owner of Pete McCarty Oil Company for over 40 years. She was a faithful and active member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church her entire life. She was also a member of the Lady Lions Club and enjoyed playing 42 and other domino games with her family.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Pete McCarty; her son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Diane McCarty; grandchildren, Jacob McCarty and his wife, Haley, and Ross McCarty and his wife, Brittani; great-grandchildren, Hunter McCarty, Reagan McCarty, and Tucker McCarty.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, James Albert Brewster and Vada Baker Barnes Brewster.
