Margaret McKnight Russell Graveside funeral services for Margaret McKnight Russell, 75, of Smithland will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2011 at the Savannah Cemetery in Smithland, Texas, under the direction of Downs Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Shaddix officiating. Mrs. Russell passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 at her home. The family will receive friends at the Downs Funeral Home on Saturday, October 29th from 6-8 p.m. Margaret was born in Smithland, Texas to Morgan H. McKnight and Edith Brown McKnight on June 24, 1936. She was married to the late Lowell Allen "Sonny" Russell, who preceded her in death in 2007. She was a homemaker, and attended Savannah Baptist Church. Those who are left to cherish her memories are her son, Jesse Russell and his wife Lenora of Bivins; her son-in-law, Joe George of Jefferson; grandsons, Dustin Russell of Bivins, and Jeremy Wicks and his wife Stormy of Stonewall, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Andy Russell, Skylar, Alex, Triston, and Bali Wicks; her brother and sister-in-law, J.C. "Sonny" and Gayle McKnight of Smithland; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn Boston and husband, Stephen of Toledo Bend, Texas.
