Maria C. Conant died on April 9th 2015 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall, TX. Maria was born on September 4th 1927 as Maria Catharina Luitink in the Hague Netherlands to parents Herman and Johanna Luitink and was raised on a sugar plantation in Suriname (Dutch Guyana). There she met and later married Roger C. Conant in 1946. They had one daughter Rita D. Conant. After moving to the U.S., she and Roger finally settled in Marshall, TX in 1968. Maria was affectionately called Nanny by all who knew and loved her. She was active in stamp clubs and an avid reader, homemaker, cook, gardener and was devoted to her family and all the household animals over the years. She never forgot anyone's birthday and loved talking with friends and family overseas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Anneka, and a son-in-law Leon Royce Eubanks. Maria is survived by her immediate family, daughter Rita Dale Eubanks (Kerry) Trimby, granddaughter Maria Catharina (Don) Davidson all of Marshall, TX and grandson Evan Trimby in Decatur, IL. The family would like to thank all at Marshall Manor, Marshall Hospital, Dr. Santa and staff at the Marshall Family Practice and especially Dr. Lewis Duncan in Longview for their care and attention to Nanny over the years. Thanks also to Downs Funeral Home for their consideration and assistance with the arrangements. It was her and her family's preference for there to be no visitation, memorial service or funeral. A donation to any animal shelter or animal rescue in her behalf would be appreciated by the family.
