A funeral service for Maria Lopez DeLeon, 87, of Waskom, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Waskom, Texas with Bro. Reginaldo De Leon officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery, Waskom, Texas.  A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas.

Maria Lopez DeLeon was born in Jalisco, Mexico on April 4, 1934 to Juan Lopez and Maria de Refugio Valdez. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 22 siblings and grandsons Chuy Munoz and Cristian DeLeon. She is survived by her 11 children Alfredo, Juan, Raul, Lila, Rosa, Carmela, Jesus, Jose Luis, Javier, Lupe, and Tony along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the loving matriarch of a large family and will be deeply missed by many. She was an active member of her church and had a strong love and faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
