Funeral services for Martha Mason, 82 of Marshall will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2015 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Dr. Terry Douglas and Bro. Will Sherman officiating. Interment will follow in Colonial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. A time of visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 7th in the Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Mason passed away at her residence in Marshall on July 4, 2015. Martha Frances Messer Mason was born January 6, 1933 in Temple, Texas to Jesse Franklin Messer and Lillie Irene Cowart Messer. She attended Business College in Austin, and she married W.D. Mason on March 23, 1951 in Bartlett, Texas, moving to Marshall in in 1966. She was a homemaker and member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, W.D. Mason of Marshall; brother Merrell Gene (Evelyn) Messer of Austin; sister, Bethel Lois Messer Warner of Walla Walla, Washington; grandson, Michael Ryan (Cassandra) Herring of Pittsburg, Texas; and great grandson, Braxton Herring and nieces. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Mason Herring; brother-in-law, LeRoy Warner; brother, Jesse Messer, Jr.; sister-in-law, Lola; parents, Jesse and Lillie Messer. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church in her memory.
