A funeral service for Marvin "Scooter" Cawood, Jr., 74, of Jefferson, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 5, 2026, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Woodlawn, Texas. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the funeral home.

Marvin was born on August 22, 1951, in Marshall, Texas to Lorin Marvin Cawood, Sr. and Betty Mae Miller Cawood. He was a loving husband, father and grandpa. On February 1, 2026, he was forever healed and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He grew up in the Woodlawn Community and graduated from Marshall High School in 1969. He loved spending time with his family at the family deer camp on Caddo. Some of his favorite things to do there were hunting, fishing and water skiing. Traveling was something else that he enjoyed doing, most especially with his wife, Glenda. He loved Jesus and was an active member at Pope City Baptist Church. A big part of his Christian walk was spent serving with the Texas Baptist Men. Over the years, he served with them on the brick team and on the disaster relief team and helped clean up and provide for many families and churches across America. Mission trips were also something that he really enjoyed being a part of; two of the bigger trips he served on took him all the way to Africa and Belize. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #38 in Jefferson for 33 years and was a "Worship Master" from 1997 to 1998. He was a hard worker and in 1987 he opened Cawood Tire in Jefferson, Texas. His son Lorin joined him in 2000 and has helped him run the shop ever since. Over the years he helped lots of people, made many friends and touched many lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Betty Cawood; his grandparents and his sister, Gayle Richardson.

Marvin was loved by many but was loved the most by the family he left behind. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Glenda Cawood; his daughter, Brigitte Glover and husband, Tracey; sons, Noah Cawood and Lorin Cawood and wife, Shey and daughter, Allison Miguez and husband, Harlan; grandchildren, Colton Glover and wife, Amber, Kailen Glover and wife, Shara, Kenzie Ishler and husband, Christian, Connor Cawood and wife, Karina, Collin Cawood, Stormie Starrett, Colten Starrett, Morgan Payne, Ally Miguez and Jackson Frey and Austin Miguez and wife, Katie; eight great grandsons, Crew, Colt and Cal Glover, Lawson, Ledger and Linc Glover and Tyler and Suede Ishler; brother-in- law, Dean Richardson and one niece, Kim Richardson and family along with numerous other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the Texas Baptist Men, Inc/Texans on a Mission.
