A memorial service for Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Lindsay, 88, of Marshall, TX will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Dr. William "Bill" Rustenhaven, Jr., Rev. William "Rusty" Rustenhaven III and Rev. Mary Katherine Kirkpatrick officiating. Betty, a true servant of God, who served all His children, but especially those who stayed child-like as God wants all of us to be. Betty was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder, in the choir, youth sponsor and worked on the hospitality committee for many years. She was a founder and director of the A.R.C., former employee of Thiokol, and Darco, and Robert E. Lee School. Betty was an advocate for and very influential in starting special education in Public Schools in Texas. She also started the Transportation for A.R.C. of Harrison County. She was a member of the Beulah Boone Circle of the Church. Betty's home was an open door; she adopted animal and human alike. Sam and Betty's home was open to anyone and everyone, no one was left out, and you always felt at home with Betty's open heart. Her Sunday lunch table was always open to her many adopted children. Betty is survived by her sons, Samuel L. "Buster" Lindsay III, of Marshall, Rev. John V. Lindsay of Denton, TX; grandsons, John Mark Lindsay and wife Cassidy of Germany, Jay Lindsay of Denton, TX; her brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, Walter Lindsay and wife Carolyn, Texie Lindsay Morris, the rest of the Lindsay Clan and her church family.
