A funeral service for Mary Jane Birdsong, 80, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2024, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the funeral home.

Mary Jane was born on March 31, 1944, in Dallas, Texas to Charles Barta and Effie Jane Zastoupil Barta and passed away on June 23, 2024, in Marshall, Texas.

She enjoyed baking and spending time with family and her fur babies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Effie Barta and her husband, Carl Birdsong.

She is survived by her children, Debra Bagley and husband, Tracy, Carla Forehand and husband, Darron, Teresa Cathey and husband, Shane and Jane Wheat; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren along with other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Marshall Humane Society.
