Funeral services for Mary Alice George Peteet, 77, of Marshall will be held 2 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2013 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bob Bryant officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, December 1st at Downs Funeral Home. Ms. Peteet passed away November 28, 2013. Mary Alice was born on March 28, 1936 in Harrison County to Sam and Ada Jo Pike George. She was a graduate of ETBU in Marshall and worked as the Assistant County Auditor in Harrison County until her retirement in 1996. She married Allen C. Peteet on February 10, 1979 in Marshall, Texas. Survivors are her husband, Allen Peteet; sons, George D. Cockrell, G. Joe Cockrell, and Steve E. Cockrell and wife Tara; grandchildren, Audra, David Lee, Melissa, Lena, Megan, Martha, Ada, Preston, Breland, and Darby; several great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; brother, Sammy George and wife Nancy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Ada Jo Pike George. The family request memorials to the American Cancer Society.
