A funeral service for Mary Gertrude Swartz Breeding, 92 of Waskom, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2023, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the funeral home. Mrs. Breeding passed away on August 7, 2023, in Longview, Texas.

Mary was born on March 23, 1931, in Louisville, Kentucky to Louis Arn Swartz and Pearl Ruth Scott Swartz. On June 11, 1949, Mary married Charles D. Breeding in Louisville. She worked as a baker and cook for Chapel Hill ISD. She was also employed at Grandma's Fried Chicken in Waskom, Texas and Iron Skillet in Shreveport, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Pearl Swartz and her husband, Charles D. Breeding.

She is survived by her sons, Brian D. Breeding and wife, Kristy and Eric K. Breeding; brothers, Jim Swartz and Richard Swartz; grandson, Garrett Breeding and wife, Chloe and great grandchildren, Hayden and Rynleigh Breeding along with a number of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
