Funeral Services for Mrs. Maurine Small Atkins, 84, of DeBerry will be held at 2:30 p.m., April 16, 2013 at the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas. Interment will be at Laurel Land Cemetery in Ft. Worth, Texas on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 2-2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16th prior to the service at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Atkins passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Maurine was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on June 19, 1928 to Johnny Small and Ava Lee Cook Small. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her children Dan Atkins of DeBerry, Texas, Judy Masters of Garland, Texas, Nancy Gilliam and husband Gary of Forney, Texas, and Peggy Glaze of Garland, Texas. Also surviving are her grandchildren Kristi McCollum and husband Kevin, Rusty Masters and wife Leighann, Holly McClung and husband Darrell, Jason Glaze, Addie Baggett and husband Chris, and Kenneth Atkins, seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and her sister Betty Hughes of Knoxville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband J.K. (Kenneth) Atkins and one brother and two sisters.
