Funeral services for Melinda "Doll" Daniels, 83, of Marshall will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 20, 2013 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Powder Mill Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Friday, July 19, 2013 at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Daniels passed away July 15, 2013 in Marshall, TX. Melinda LaGrone Daniels was born October 13, 1929 in Marshall, TX to Hezzie and Bertha Andrews LaGrone. She was a graduate of H.B. Pemberton High School. Melinda married Cleveland Jack Daniels and to this union 6 children were born. She was a member of Edwards Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, President of the Choir, President of the Mission, and Head of the Food Committee. Melinda worked for Morton Thiokol for 25 years. Melinda Daniels is survived by her sons, Cleveland Daniels of Oakland, CA, Kennith Daniels, Freddy Daniels, Tim Daniels, Terry Daniels, all of Marshall, TX; daughter, Barbara Jackson of Longview, TX; sisters, Mable Lincoln of Houston, TX, Elise Allen of San Francisco, CA, Gloria Easley of Fairfield, CA, Rose Jallow of Dallas, TX; brother, Tommy LaGrone of Vacaville, CA; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Melinda was preceded in death by her mother and father, 5 brothers and 1 sister. Pallbearers will be Theodore Gooch, Jr., Keith Gooch, Sam Knighten, M.C. Thompson, Will Tillman and Emitt Easley. Grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.
