A graveside service for Melva Chance Dickerson "Pruitt", 80, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Grange Hall Cemetery in Marshall, Texas. A time for visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Downs Funeral Home.

Melva was born on September 5, 1941, in Hemphill, Texas to David E. Chance and Reba Nell Collier and passed away on May 6, 2022, in Longview, Texas.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge #197 for over 20 years where she served as secretary and treasurer and was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #74. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for many years. She loved sewing, crafting, dancing, playing canasta and loved her dog, Lucy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, David E. and Reba Nell Chance; brother, Elderidge Gail Chance; 2 grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Don Allen Fincher and wife, Lena Carol, Ronda Lyn Loony and Steven Odell Fincher; brother George Allen Chance and wife, Linda; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren along with other family and friends.
