Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mike Henson, 75, of Jefferson Texas.

A beloved father, grandfather and friend. Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we find comfort in remembering the life he lived, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. To know him was to know a man who always had a story to tell and a joke ready to share. He had a way of making people laugh, and he never needed a special occasion to strike up a conversation. If you were willing to listen, he was always willing to tell you a story. Those stories, his humor, and his one-of-a-kind personality are memories that will live on in the hearts of everyone that knew and loved him. He found joy in the simple things in life, especially fishing with his sons-in-law. Those fishing trips were about so much more than catching fish. They were about time spent together, conversations shared, laughter that came naturally, and the memories that would last a lifetime. But if there was one thing that brought him more happiness than anything else, it was spending time with his grandchildren. His grands were his pride and joy, and being around them brought him happiness that words can hardly describe. They held a special place in his heart, and the time he spent with them was among his most treasured blessings. He was a man whose life was built on memories, family, laughter, and the little moments that often mean the most. He may not have realized just how much his stories, his jokes, his familiar ways and his presence meant to the people around him. But now in his absence, those little things have become some of the biggest pieces of our hearts. Losing him leaves a space that can never be truly filled. There will be days when we reach for the phone to tell him something, when we think of a story he would have loved, or when we hear a joke and wish we could hear his laughter one more time. There will be moments when we miss his voice, his wisdom, and simply having him here with us. And there will always be memories that will bring both tears to our eyes and smiles to our faces. Though our hearts ache because we can no longer see him, we are grateful for every moment we were blessed to share with him. His life made a difference, his love left a mark, and his memory will forever be woven into the lives of those who loved him. We take comfort in knowing that his journey here on earth has ended, but his story is not over. The love he gave, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the memories he created will continue to live on through his children, his grandchildren, his sons-in-law and all those fortunate to have known him.

He may have taken his final drive down the roads of this earth, but we find peace in believing that he has made it home. Until we meet again, Dad, may you rest in the arms of the Lord, surrounded by peace and love you so richly deserve. You will missed more than words could ever express, loved more than you could ever have known, and remembered for the rest of our lives.
