A graveside service for Minda Thornton, 68, of Jefferson, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, at Pope City Baptist Church in Woodlawn, Texas. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Downs Funeral Home.

Minda was born on August 10, 1955, in Jefferson, Texas to Oliver Wood and Annette McCreary Wood and passed away on April 17, 2024, in Dallas, Texas.

She married Harry Thornton on June 7, 1974, at Pope City Baptist Church and the two remained married until her passing. She owned and operated MakBeth Embroidery. She was a member of Pope City Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Annette Wood.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Thornton; children, Damon Thornton and wife, Tasha, Amy Jones and husband, Jason and Beth Champion; twelve grandchildren and Bear, Bella and Babe, her dogs and Robin, her grand dog along with other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her honor to Pope City Cemetery.
