Nellie Jones George was born June 20, 1936 in Marshall, Texas to Virgil Roberson and Willie Ophelia Welty Roberson, and passed away February 5, 2017 in Marshall. She was a member of Nesbitt Church where she taught Sunday school.  She loved flowers especially roses, feeding and watching deer, and most of all her grandchildren.  She worked in the Insurance Business, which she loved, and at Blue Buckle, which was later Imperial Reddings. She married the late Walter Ray Jones in 1952.  She later married Walter Ray George.

Graveside funeral services for Ms. George will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in the Eagle Creek Cemetery in Harleton, Texas with Bro. Dick Sawyer officiating. There will be a Visitation at the Downs Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 6th.

She is survived by her sons, Calvin (Peggy Lynn) Jones, and Walter Allen (Diane) Jones; stepsons, Kevin (Nicole) George, and Keith (Kristi) George; grandchildren, Jason Jones, Salena Jones, Amanda Champion, Crystal Stephens, Janna Jones; step-grandchildren, Emma George, Kathryn George, Chloe George, Kendall Bradley; several brothers and sisters, numerous great-grandchildren ,nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, a daughter Debbie Sue Jones, and a son Roger Dale Jones.
