A funeral service for Nelson Chapman, 71, of DeBerry, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2023, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Old Center Cemetery in Tenaha, Texas. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2023, at the funeral home.

Nelson was born on January 7, 1952, in Tomball, Texas to Lonnie Chapman and Elvie Williams Chapman and passed away at his residence on January 13, 2023.

He married Kimberly Morgan on February 13, 1999, in Bridgeport, Texas and the two remained married until his passing. He loved fishing, being outdoors and watching his chickens. He loved music, especially playing his guitar and singing. He loved the Lord, and his family was everything to him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Chapman and Elvie Weatherly; son, Anthony Nelson Chapman; granddaughter, Baylee Ratcliff and sister-in-law, Mary Chapman.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Chapman; children, Steve Chapman and wife, Shannon, Clifton Walker and wife, Janeth, Brian Walker, Zacharia Walker and wife, Kenzie, Tiffanie Walker, Wendy Casillas and husband, Marcus, Crystal Perkins and JR. Perkins; brother, Doug Chapman and Randall Belcher and wife, Lucille; sisters, Janice Lafitte and husband, Deek and Linda Pierce and husband, Junior; 26 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren along with numerous other nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
