A graveside service for Nina Pope Carlton, 79, of Marshall will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Grange Hall Cemetery with Bro. Kenneth Flanagan officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Carlton passed away December 15, 2013. Nina Carlton was born February 10, 1934 in Harleton, Texas to David and Verian Evers Pope. She was a graduate of Marshall High School, and was a member of Grange Hall Methodist Church. She loved to cook and bake, and was dedicated to her children, husband and grandchildren. Mrs. Carlton is survived by her daughters, Nancy Ponder of Marshall, TX, Angie Price and husband Ritchie of Cleveland, TX, Anita Jones and husband Keith, Karen Bounds and husband Galen, all of Marshall; her son, Barry Carlton and wife Dawn of Harleton, TX; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Alan Pope and wife Margaret of Harleton, TX, Don Earl Pope and wife Londa, Larry Pope and wife Colleen, Dennis Pope and wife Nadine, all of Marshall, TX; special cousin, Virginia Wise of Marshall, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Mrs. Carlton was preceded in death by her parents; husband, A.H. Carlton; son, Robert "Bobby" Carlton; brother, Richard Pope; and two grandsons, Ritchie Price, Jr. and Jesse Jones.
