Funeral services for Norman Roberts, Jr., 78, of Marshall, TX, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 27, 2014, at the Elysian Fields Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Boisseau Cemetery. A time for viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, December 26, 2014 at Downs Funeral Home. Mr. Roberts passed away December 22, 2014 at his home. Norman Roberts, Jr, was born July 27, 1936, in Panola County, TX to Norman and Nellie Mae Lewis Roberts. He married Nelva Jean Rudd on December 26, 1955 in Marshall, TX. Mr. Roberts retired from SWEPCO after 30 years of service. He was a member of Elysian Fields Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Surviving Mr. Roberts are his wife, Nelva Roberts of Marshall, TX; children, Alice Harvey (Sentell) of Kilgore, TX, Norman Charles Roberts III (Luketta), Vincent Roberts, all of Elysian Fields, TX and Earl Roberts of Marshall, TX; sister, Pam Hoye (Larry) of Kilgore, TX; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Preceding Mr. Roberts in death were his parents, Norman, Sr. and Nellie Roberts; son, Jerome Roberts; and 3 sisters, Laurine Brown, Dorothy Lorine Sparks and U.L. White.
