Funeral services for Ounice Buchanan Hicks, 97, of Karnack, TX will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Texas Louisiana Association Building with Rev. Paul Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Sipps Cemetery in Karnack. Mrs. Hicks passed away August 1, 2014. Ounice Buchanan Hicks was born in Karnack, Texas to Azbury Saxton and Susie Boykins Saxton. She attended the Annie Glade School, and was a custodian for Thiokol for a number of years. Ms. Hicks was a member of Peters Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Eastern Star and enjoyed sewing and quilting. Ms. Hicks is survived by her daughters, Berthena Vaughn (Allen) of Longview, TX, Addie Mae Adams (Arthur) of Gardena, CA, Vicki Jamison (Ray) of Karnack, TX, and Kathy Daniels (Reginald) of Dallas, TX; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ms. Hicks was preceded in death by her son, Clifton Buchanan; daughter, Curtis Ounice Hayward; great-great grandson, Devonte Vaughn; great granddaughter, Zakiyyah J. Hayward; sister, May Pearl Mitchell; and brother, Eddie Saxon.
