Funeral services for Mr. Patrick Dale O'Guin, 71 of Avinger will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2013 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Yates Memorial Gardens in Scottsville. A time of visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Saturday June 22, 2013 at Downs Funeral Home. Mr. O'Guin passed away June 17, 2013 in Shreveport, LA. Patrick Dale O'Guin was born June 15, 1942 in Batesville, AR. to Frank Darnell O'Guin and Hettie Tate O'Guin. Mr. Guin served our country in the United States Army from 1960 - 1971. On November 7, 1998 he married Phyllis Jean Schoonover. Patrick was a longtime member of Church of Christ and supporter of VFW. He enjoyed fishing, loved westerns, and enjoyed country music such as Johnny Cash. Mr. O'Guin was also an animal lover, whom had a special place in his heart for "Bad Dog". Surviving Patrick are his wife, Phyllis Jean O'Guin of Avinger; sons, Douglas "Butch" Phillips and wife Nicole, Samuel Phillips and wife Kathy, Edward Phillips all of Longview, and Ricky O'Guin of Apple City, MO; daughters, Sharee Smith and husband Nicholas of Bossier City, LA, Amy O'Guin Dillon, Laurie O'Guin Copes and husband James of Pioneer, LA, and Samantha Jones of Beckville; brother, Bob O'Guin of Watervalley, MS.; 21 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debbie O'Guin Ashworty, and several brothers and sisters. Serving as pallbearers will be Otis Manley, Samuel Phillips, Edward Phillips, Joseph Phillips, Jake Copes, and James Copes. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Smith and Douglas Phillips.
