A funeral service for Peggy Brown, 65, of Woodlawn, will be held at 11am Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Woodlawn Baptist Church. Burial will immediately follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 6pm to 8pm, Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown passed away at her home Tuesday, December 22, 2015.

Peggy Nell Brown was born August 01, 1950 in Marshall, Texas to William and Goldie Mae Shields. Peggy will be remembered by many for serving Marshall at Marshall National Bank, where she worked for 45 years, first as a teller before retiring as a loan officer. Before retirement, she worked briefly at Austin Bank. Peggy was a member and children's Sunday school teacher at Woodlawn Baptist Church. When not working, Peggy could be found doing what she loved most, spending time with her family. She was an avid supporter of her husband's dirt track racing. She also enjoyed fishing, was well known for remembering everyone's birthday and throwing great parties. Peggy was the center of her home and loved her family dearly.

Peggy Brown is survived by her husband, Denzil "Rick" Brown of Woodlawn; son, Ricky Brown, Jr. and wife Karen of Lake O' the Pines; son Matthew Scott Brown and wife, Mistey Aikens of Jefferson; grandchildren, Heather Oney, Cimber Brown, Colbey Brown, Bailey Brown, Madison Brown, Megan Gresler; great-grandchildren, Mason & Madlyn Hairgrove, Harley Danaher; sister, Mary George and husband, Rufus; sister Betty Waites; brother Mike Shields and wife, Phyllis; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William David Shields.
