Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Phillip B. Ford, Sr. announces his passing on July 16, 2023, at the age of 72.

The Man, The Myth, The Legend!!

Phillip was born August 1, 1950, in Marshall, Texas to Kenneth and Louise Ford.

Beloved husband for 26 years to Donna Harber Ford.

Cherished father to Phillip "Bobby" Ford Jr. and wife Lisa, Rhonda Stewart and husband Tim, Jason Shepard and wife Christie and Goddaughter Heather Voelkel and husband Colby.  Treasured Pepaw to Phillip "Blake" Ford and wife Kassie, Colton Ford and wife Kendyl, Reagan Harrist, Abby Shepard and Logan Shepard. Great Pepaw to Karley Ford, Caleb Ford, Adley Ford, Karston Peace, Baby Ford due in December to Colton and Kendyl, Cason Bonsall, Ellie Voelkel and Matthew Voelkel. Loving brother to Pam Ford, Barbara Ford and the late Kenneth Ford Jr and wife Shirley. Phillip is also survived by the mother of his children, Anita Stanfield and husband Rusty. Preceded by his parents Kenneth and Louise Ford and brother Kenneth "Bud" Ford and nephews, Bill Birmingham, Eric Bales and Tim Ratley.

Much loved Uncle to Phillis Shields (his namesake), Nancy White, Susan Best, Tiffany Self and Laura Radigk.

Reunited in Heaven with his lifelong friend and best buddy Rusty Asaff.  Better get the domino's ready!

Phillip retired when he was 63 from the car business and investment rentals, which he owned and worked most of his adult life.  Prior to being in business for himself at Ford's Used Cars and Ford's Rentals, he was the Used Car Sales Manager for Johnny Williams Ford for several years.  He loved reading (usually out loud), playing jokes on his friends and family (especially to his sister Pam) spending time with his family, traveling the world with his wife and going to Vegas!

Phillip was always happy and loved life!!  He didn't meet a stranger and always had a kind caring heart.   That being the reason he was so well respected by his tenants, customers and co-workers!

Phillip loved to play cards!  Although he was dealt a bad hand when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's 14 years ago, he didn't let it stop him from traveling with his wife and enjoying life to the fullest until he couldn't anymore!

A special thanks to Phillip's caregiver and his very own "Angel" Debra Gulley.

The visitation is scheduled for 6pm – 8pm on July 18th and the Funeral Service is scheduled for 3pm on July 19th at Down's Funeral Home. Pastor Pete Sellers will officiate.

"May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

May the rains fall upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand."
